Over spring break my husband and I took our kids on a history tour. We started in Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown and then onto DC. As we heard the stories, visited the battlefields of the Revolution, toured the National Archives, the White house, and memorials, learned about the great risks and loss that were taken in order to become a free democratic country. I am amazed at the amount of courage and grit that it took.
When you look at the Declaration of Independence and all the signatures, realizing that if we lost the war, each signer would have been hunted down and punished as a traitor. Each signer was willing to take the risk to create something better.
One definition of Grit is: courage and resolve; strength of character.
Creating something great, takes a tremendous amount of grit. A willingness to do the work, take the risk and put it all on the line.
I have to ask myself, am I really willing to put it all on the line, be visible, face the fear, put on my big girl panties, and risk the failures? Are you?
When I ask myself those questions, my immediate response is hell yes. Then I get a little squeamish, because I can feel the fear start to creep up my back. But think about it, we aren’t risking our lives here. Our founding fathers and the men who went to war were risking their lives. Death was a very real possibility.
What are you and I really risking? You’re risking a little embarrassment, being wrong, failing, someone not agreeing with you, maybe being confronted. These things, as far as I know haven’t usually had an outcome of actual death (although sometimes it may feel like that).
So, are you ready to put it on the line? With great risk comes great reward. If you take the risk, it just may work. It may change your life forever. It may create the dreams you are wanting. It may create the freedom for you to live a life you could only have imagined.
Grit is about doing the thing most people won’t, sticking with it longer then the pack with the determination of a pit-bull.
Mastering sales can take grit. It takes perseverance, courage, resolve and strength of character.
Ask yourself – “Are you willing to master sales to create the life and freedom you want? Are you willing to go after your dreams with passion, purpose and GRIT?”
Grit has been an important attribute that I have relied on throughout my life. It has gotten me through the tough times when I have fallen down, failed, taken a risk, learned something new.
Grit was imperative for me in learning how to sell, building a successful network marketing business and building a successful coaching business.
