What does Choice, Appreciation, and Joyful Play Mean to Your Success?

What does choice, appreciation, and Joyful Play mean to your business and life success?

Frankly, everything.

I was having a conversation with Laura Tucker, a friend of mine who is a coach in Toronto. She has the podcast entitled, Free Your Inner Guru. She mentioned she had caught a rerun of Oprah and Eckhart Tolle talking about his book, “The Power of Now”. Laura talked about the concept of acceptance, appreciation, and enthusiasm sticking out to her.

As we talked about this, I continued to think about this concept and what it meant for me, my business, along with my passion of Radical Self-Care and Joyful Play. The more I thought about it, I felt like a couple of the words didn’t resonate with me, and I began to play with it.

I came up with replacing acceptance with choice. For me, choice is much more powerful.

There are things in your business and life that you will have to accept. However, I like coming from a place of choosing to accept the parts of your business and life that you may not be able to change at the moment. When you come from the place of choice then you are taking full responsibility.

“Radical Self Care and Joyful Play are absolutely essential to your Success!”

~ Lauri Rubinstein

When you start to create the business and life you want, make the choice to do what it takes, part of that choice will mean putting yourself as a priority and practicing Radical Self Care. The other choice is to commit to doing what it takes. The part you like and the parts you may not be comfortable with. It’s the choice to grow yourself, your business, and your life.

The second word, “appreciation”, I kept. This happens to be one of my favorite words.

When you are in appreciation, you are present. Go ahead and try to be in appreciation and not be present. It’s impossible for me.

Being in appreciation has so many benefits to you.

One, it keeps you focused on what is working and all you have in your life (Abundance). Two, because it keeps you present it will also keep you out of your limiting beliefs.

It’s very hard to be in appreciation and doubt yourself.

The third, is that it is a powerful tool to stop the spin. By spin I mean when we get into our limiting beliefs, stories, we start doubting ourselves and thinking about all that it not happening and buy into our fears. This I call the spin, which I can get into especially if I am outside my comfort zone.

When you get into a spin, take a time out and get into appreciation of what is in your life. Start small and build on it. You’ll be amazed at how effective and fast this little tool can be!

The third word I changed from enthusiasm to Joyful Play.

When I think of enthusiasm, I think of the Greek word “entheos” which means “the god within”.

For you to be in Joyful Play, you have traveled a personal journey to really discover what that is for you. Joyful Play is energizing and revitalizing for you. It gives you energy. It’s finding the wisdom of God within. When you are in Joyful Play you are in enthusiasm – entheos!

This third word, in my opinion, is the most important piece.

You cannot build the business you want, have the life you want and impact you want without first finding this piece. It’s essential to you having the energy and vitality to creating all you want and not burning out.

You also can’t get to Joyful Play, without choice and appreciation.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Make a Choice: Remember you always have a choice. You may not like the choice, but you always have it. By being in choice, you avoid the trap of victim or martyr (my go to), and you take personal responsibility. When you take personal responsibility then you, in turn, have the ability to change.
  2. Be in Appreciation: Focus on what is working in your life, your business, your relationships. Energy flows where attention goes. Do you want your energy going towards the things that are working or on what is not working? Remember, what you focus on grows.
  3. Find what Joyful Play is for you: This is how you avoid burnout, keep a work life balance, and have the impact you want. For more info on this check out – Play, Success and Joy and Radical Self Care is Essential to Your Success
