Intuition – Are You Ready to Go From Good to Great?

Mindset, Success

Going from good to great is combining your practical knowledge and wisdom with your intuition. We all have it, but you may have disconnected from it, which is so easy to do. Most of us grow up learning to stuff our emotions because we need to be strong and tough. Somewhere down the line, you may have learned that showing emotion wasn’t strong or tough. This was definitely true for me.

Then there is the disconnecting from our bodies. We learn to think and analyze everything. How many times have you thought about creating a list of pros and cons when you are trying to make a decision? Or, you may go around and ask a bunch of people what they think about a decision you are making. In the end, this is a terrible way to make decisions. You have a 50/50 chance of making the right decision for you.

In business and in life, you don’t want to be good, ordinary, and normal. You want to be a master, go for great, and stand out from the norm. I’ve often heard the saying “good is the enemy of great”. I agree with this. Good is settling for mediocrity – the middle of the pack.

How Intuition Can Clear the Path to Take Your Life and Your business From Good to Great

You aren’t here to be good. You’re here to be great. You know that feeling you have deep down inside that is calling to you, that secretly wants to be seen, known, heard, and have a giant impact. You feel it pulling you forward. It feels unsettling as it asks you for more, to step out, and be seen. This pull doesn’t allow you to settle because it is always touching you. You feel it in your heart, you feel it in your solar plexus, and it pulls you forward.

This is your intuition trying to get your attention. I know there have been times when you just knew something was going to happen or you thought of someone and then they called or you ran into them. This is all proof of your intuition. The problem is that you may tend to ignore it. You may resist the quiet knowing you feel.

This is pretty common. I work with a lot of women around this. You may have blocks, limiting beliefs, or subconscious patterns that are running through you and are so loud it’s hard for you to hear the quiet voice of your intuition.

One of the greatest things you can do for you, your life, and your business is to reconnect with your intuition, and develop it. Combine it with the knowledge and wisdom you already possess. You’ll have a powerful combination that will propel you from good to great!

The only real valuable thing is intuition.”

– Albert Einstein

I encourage you to play with this. What would things look like for you if you really trusted what you know and what you feel? Or you went out on a limb and shared that amazing idea that just popped into your head. Made decisions that where right for you and, in turn, benefited all those around you. What if by tapping into and developing your intuition you could stop pushing and powering through and get into flow?

Developing your intuition doesn’t have to be hard. Just start experimenting with it and practice. Here are a few steps to help you get started. Just play with it and see what happens.

Awareness

Pay attention to what’s showing up for you. Who is showing up? Pay attention if something comes up for you a couple of times, and if you see it come around a third time, take action. Did two people just mention that same book in one week? Do you keep running into a particular theme? Just keep awareness and watch what shows up for you.

This awareness changed my life.

While I was in Mary Kay, someone said something to me about considering life coaching. I didn’t think much about it and went about continuing to build Mary Kay. Then eight years later (yes, eight years), I was at a workshop and was approached again about life and business coaching. I paid more attention and checked it out a little bit, but didn’t really go any further than that.

Then one day I was doing some research and grabbed the notebook from that workshop and a card fell onto the floor. I picked up the card, and it said “Coachville”, an International Coaching Federation accredited school. On the back of the card was a hand-written phone number.

At that point, I just called the number. The man that answered just happened to be the owner and CEO of the coaching school. It was his cell phone. Neither one of us could figure out how I had gotten his cell phone number.

I started classes that next day.

Listening

Listen to that gut feeling, the thought that pops into your head. That knowing you have, even if you can’t explain it. Play with sharing what is coming up for you when you’re with people. You won’t always get it right, but this is practice. It’s your time to hone in and develop your skill.

If you are talking to someone and get a feeling that something is wrong, be brave and just say, “I get the feeling something may be bothering you”, or “feels like something is going on for you, are you ok?”. Just see what happens. I’ll bet you will even surprise yourself.

Trust

Trust that what you are getting and the thoughts that are coming up for you are valid. You are getting them for a reason.

I’ve even called people and said, “So and so mentioned you, and I just felt like I should call you… Doing this has brought some of the most extraordinary people and experiences into my life.

Trust what you are feeling. If something doesn’t feel right, there is a reason. If something just feels right, go for it.

Trust that the feelings, thoughts, and knowings that come up for you, are there for a reason. Explore following them.

When you combine your practical knowledge, your skill, and your life experiences with your intuition, amazing things will happen.
