Is it time? Time to be seen and really build your business? Is it time for people to find out about you and for you to finally get your good work out into the world? Are you ready to serve the people who are waiting for you to show up and step into the spotlight?
Have you been hiding? Hiding behind your computer or in your office? Doing amazing work with a few people, but not really getting what you do and who you are out there?
Why We Don’t See Some of the Best
Yep, I get it. I know some amazing people, who are honestly some of the best in their field.
But they are hiding, and their business isn’t growing the way it could be growing.
This in turn means they can’t serve in the way they want to serve.
They come from a place of serving.
Always doing what is right for their clients and customers.
They really care and want the best for their clients and customers.
They come from a place of giving.
We Need Conscientious Business Owners
Here’s the thing. If you are reading this and saying yep that’s me, then we need you to been seen.
We need conscious business owners who are building from a place of giving and taking care of their customers and clients. Who are going to protect and serve the people that are working for them and with them.
You understand that it is the team that makes everything happen.
You understand that if you help enough other people achieve what they want to achieve, you’ll automatically achieve what you want.
You understand that your biggest asset is the people within your business.
This is what we need more of. The problem is that many of you are not visible and cannot be found. It’s time for you to be found … agreed?
Why Vulnerability Is A Good Thing
It’s time to stop doubting yourself, own what you know, and step into the spot light. Yes, I know it’s scary and makes you feel vulnerable. You are more open to criticism. On the other hand, it’s in the vulnerability that we express ourselves and really connect with other people.
Vulnerability is a place of grace where you allow people to really see you. Where they can appreciate all the amazing things you have journeyed through. It’s a gift you give.
You don’t have to be perfect; you just have to be you. You will attract your own audience and the critics; well they aren’t your people. There are always going to be people out there that don’t agree with you. You may be reading this right now thinking phewy or probably not, because you might have stopped reading before now:). Don’t let that stop you from going for it, being seen and serving your people!
Here are a few ways to step out of hiding and let people find you (remember people can’t become your clients and customers if they can’t find you)!
- Start getting a newsletter or blog out. Start sharing some of your wisdom. I know from personal experience this is definitely a sitting on the edge of your comfort zone kind of thing. What I think you’ll find, is that people are going to connect with you and what you have to offer.
- Tell people you’re growing your business. Start telling people you work with and spend time with that you are looking to grow your business and what type of client or customer you are looking for. Have them be a talent scout for you. You may be surprised at their reaction. People may be thinking you are too busy to add any more clients or customers …
- Ask for referrals. Call the people you work with and people you know who love what you do, and ask them for a referral or introduction. This creates warm leads and an accountability to follow up.
- Network. I know, yuk. If you’re at all an introvert, this isn’t your favorite. Find a group, meet-up, or networking event where your tribe hangs out. Don’t try to go to a networking event full of people you aren’t even looking for. Make sure it’s your people, your tribe. If you can’t find one, create one. About 6 year ago, I got with a couple of people and started a women’s networking group in my area called the “Valley Divas”. We meet once a month, and every month I meet some amazing new people.
- Speak. I know this is scary for people. But it’s a great way to get some visibility. Start with small groups and work your way into bigger groups. There are lots of groups, associations, and meet-ups that are looking for speakers. If this is just too daunting of a thought, then you might check out Toast Masters. When I was starting to move up into a leadership position in Mary Kay, I joined a Toast Master’s group because I was terrified of speaking in front of people. I am still benefiting from that decision almost 25 years ago.
Just Start
Don’t try to do it all. Just pick one or two you feel you could start with. Just start, and be seen. Your people/tribe are waiting for you.
Think of it this way. If you have something that will serve someone else and help them achieve their goals and dreams, isn’t a little selfish not to be seen??
Just saying 🙂
