We are definitely in the digital age of email, texting and social media. Many of us may never talk to or hear an actual voice of a person during the day.

As entrepreneurs, this can be a challenge. Especially if you have a service or product you are trying to get out into the world. I talk to a lot of people who are trying to grow a business and add new customers and clients through these platforms. It can be extremely frustrating putting things out on social media, email and text, and not get the results you want aka new clients and customers.

Here’s the deal – unless you have a great email list that you have spent a lot of time nurturing, you need to pick up the phone and make a call.

I see a lot of people spending a lot of money on websites, landing pages, Facebook ads etc. when really what they need to do is just pick up the phone.

When your growing your business and you want more clients and customers, start with picking up the phone and having an actual conversation with people. This is the fastest and easiest way to fill your client and customer base. Then you can start on the rest when you have the money rolling in.

A conversation with someone, allows you to ask questions, hear what someone is saying and what he or she may not be saying. When you’re in conversation with someone you can ask questions and get to know your prospect and what their needs are. Then it allows you to see how your product or service can be a solution for them.

Remember you’re prospective clients and customers are buying you first. When you talk to someone in person you begin to start building a real relationship.

3 Important parts of that conversation:

  1.  Directly communicate with your prospect. Let them know exactly why you are calling them.
  2.  Actively listen to them. Instead of thinking about what you’re going to say – “Listen”.
  3.  Share with them what’s in it for them. How will your product or service benefit them and how will it make them feel.

We grow a business one person at a time. When you get really good at picking up the phone and having a conversation, you can then find out what’s most important to your prospect and communicate how your product or service can be a solution for them. You will then be hearing “Yes, I want to work with you!”
