What if you committed to you and your business and were successful?
What if you committed to yourself for one year? One year of commitment to your business? What would your life be like?
This is a decision I made after a several months of struggling with building a direct sales business. One week I was in and the next I was out. When it was going well, I was excited and fully in. Two weeks later I hit a few challenges, faced rejection and was bumping up against the edge of my comfort zone. As a result, I was out.
Have you ever felt like that? You’re building a business and you’re in and out driving yourself crazy. You really want to be successful but it is scary. The learning curve is huge. You’re stepping out to the edge of your comfort zone and doing something different and bigger then you have ever done before. But, there is just something about this as terrifying as it is that just makes you feel alive. You’re really playing big. You’re going for it – until you’re not.
If you have experienced the roller coaster or are on the roller coaster of “I’m in – I’m out,” I want to invite you to a 1-year commitment. This is perhaps one of my best decisions I have made. I got off the roller coaster ride and committed to my business and myself. I owed it to myself to see what I could do. You owe it to yourself to see what you can do. I know one thing; if you’re willing to learn how to sell your product, service or opportunity, grow, take action, and you love what you’re doing, then you have everything it takes to be successful.
Lesson 1: If your going to commit to someone – make sure it’s you!
I made this commitment to give it all I had for one year. For 12 months I was fully in. Then at the end of the 12 months I was going to decide if I wanted to continue building my business or not. Making this decision changed my life.
Lesson 2: It takes time to build something great. Do yourself a favor and give yourself the time to be successful.
It took every bit of that 12-month commitment for me to really begin to learn the things that were necessary for me to be successful. I won’t lie, it was at times a huge learning curve. I also had to really start to believe in myself. The incredible thing is you are always growing and stretching yourself. Then there is this place you reach where you actually get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Lesson 3: It’s a good place to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. It means your stretching, growing, and playing big.
At the end of the year, I had a financially viable business. I had won and was driving a free car and moved up into a leadership position and met my income goal. I would never have to sit in a cubicle or work somewhere I hated. I bought my first house at 24 and never looked back. I spent the next 20 years building a top organization and reaped the rewards of my commitment.
I want to encourage you to make the commitment to your future and see what you can do with it. See how your life can change in the next 12 months. Twelve months goes fast but it can change your life forever!
